Dexter

Look at that adorable face! This is the newest family member. He belongs to my oldest son. He is a 7 week old rescue dog. We are guessing that he is part cocker spaniel/king charles cavalier spaniel/beagle mix, but we don't know for sure. He came to visit today and we fell in love. He is such a cutie pie!

Welcome to the family, Dexter!

Delicious!

Look at the yummy things we found in the garden! Yes, they taste as good as they look....even better. (they might look better if I knew anything about the photoshop program I got recently)...LOL
We are definitely enjoying the fruit.

Thanks again to Emily at chatting at the sky. Yesterday's post may not have been exactly what she was going for when she asked for hidden moments of joy in our day. Most others were short and sweet. And for some reason I doubted my post many times throughout the day. Why do we do that? When it comes from the heart, how can it be wrong. But I forced myself to leave it up and move on. :)
Hope you are having a great day! Hoping to get more crafty things on here soon.

(forgot to mention that we have heard from my son a few times via email & he is having a great time. yahoo)

Tuesdays Unwrapped

After reading "Chatting at the Sky" I decided to join in. On Tuesdays Emily hosts a "Tuesdays Unwrapped" post for everyone to share. It is an attempt to get us all to slow down and take a look at our lives and to be grateful for those little moments in between the chaos. Those moments that speak to our hearts. At first I wasn't going to join in at the risk of being out there and exposed. But then I stopped to take a look at my last week. What a week it has been. So many changes in my life right now. So truly blessed. Last weekend my husband and I got the chance to meet our son's future in-laws. Wow...it really started sinking in that my oldest son was getting married. Next came moving my middle son home from ASU. So good to have him with us for the summer. Wednesday brought graduation at ASU. Seeing the president of the United States and realizing that my son has graduated from college, already. Where did those 4 yrs go? The next few days were a rush getting my middle son ready to head out on a mission trip to Macedonia. Scary, exciting and a true picture of where his heart is. And as some of you may know we have been dealing for the past 9 months with my youngest son's medical issues. So grateful to God that he is responding to the medications and is considered by his doctors a "success story"! There has been a lot to take in this week. My heart is just overflowing with love for my family.
I have included the photo above of a layout I did for Devine Memories when I was on the design team. It is one of my very favorite photos of the boys! Makes me smile everytime I look at it.
And today it makes me realize how quickly time flies by. How lucky I am to have been home with my boys, to take in all those little moments and cherish them. And so today, even though all the events of this week point to the fact that they are all growing up and starting to move on, I can rest in the fact that I have no regrets. That God has allowed me the opportunity to truly enjoy my family. So even though life gets chaotic, we can choose to stop and take it all in. To cherish this life we have together and praise God for the people he has placed in our lives. What a blessing!

Off He Goes

Well, tomorrow my middle son leaves for Macedonia. He is excited, nervous and anxious all at once. Excited to go and share with the kids there and nervous about the unknowns. But there are people in his group that have been there before and the missionaries have lived there for 10 yrs. so he will be in good company. (that is what I keep telling myself) :)
It is a little daunting to send him off so very far away but we pray constantly and trust God to keep him safe. What an experience this will be for him. So very cool.
And if I have to, I can always pretend he is back in Tempe living and not really half way around the world. (you do what you have to do, right!) teehee

Your prayers for safety would be wonderful. Thanks!

What A Day!

What a day it was! We had such a good time yesterday. It was hot and there was lots of walking, but overall it went really well. We had to go through the metal detectors and have our items checked but it went quickly. We had hoped to be on the west side of the stadium but our seats were on the east side....boy was it hot! We were on the 40 yard line, 3 rows back so our seats were good but they got much better at 6 pm when the sun went down. :) Did I mention that it was hot. ha ha We left at around 2:30 pm and didn't get home until 11:30 pm. It was a long, long day but worth it. The president's speech was wonderful! No matter your views, he is an amazing speaker. And how many people can say that the sitting president spoke at their graduation! Pretty cool. So hard to believe that my son has graduated from college!

Congratulations to all the graduates!!

Today's the Day

Today we will trek to Sun Devil Stadium to listen to Obama and see the graduates of ASU Class of 2009! Hard to believe that my son and future daughter-in-law will be part of that class. Those 4 yrs went by so quickly. So very proud of both of them!! What a wonderful accomplishment and a fun ending to four years of hard work.
My son will be graduating with 2 degrees...one in political science and one in global studies. Wahoo! Way to go!

Arizona State University is pleased to announce that President Barack Obama will give the Commencement Address at University Commencement on Wednesday, May 13 at 7 p.m. in Sun Devil Stadium.

Trying Something New

Getting ready for a graduation party for my son's fiance'. This Saturday we will be celebrating with her family. I am giving her a card with money but wanted a little extra to include. I chose to buy a really pretty frame that I am blinging out even more for her to put her new engagement photo in. Plus I saw this great little project on my friend Rebecca's blog. I thought Sabrina would like it. It went together quick and easy. I like the way it turned out. I can see making all kinds of these in the future. The sky's the limit on what you can write. Too fun!

Busy Week

No photo as my computer is in the shop....again. My new computer. arrrgghhh. Oh well. So I am using my sons computer and have to make it quick.

The party was so much fun this last Sunday. Oh my! Just a great afternoon. It was so good to have everyone here.
This coming weekend we have more family coming into town....so more parties. Yahoo!!
Oh and we get to meet my sons future in-laws. They are coming into town also. To celebrate ASU graduation. And to check out our yard for the wedding. No pressure. teeheehee But John has the yard looking good so I think we are ready. It will be fun to meet them. Everyone is excited about the wedding.

I have been so busy that I haven't gotten to play as much as I would like with my new toy...the cricut. But I am very happy to have it. This weekend we have another employee crop at Paper Vineyard so I will get to play then. I didn't invite anyone to come along this time as things have changed daily here (my dad was back in the hospital) so I didn't want to have to cancel on someone at the last minute. Hopefully the rest of the week will be quiet. That will mean my dad is doing well.

Hope everyone is having a great week...enjoy this wonderful weather if you are here in AZ!!

National Scrapbooking Day

Today is the day we are suppose to spend our time scrapping the hours away. I hope to do a bit of that later. For the most part I will be cleaning house today, getting ready for birthday parties tomorrow......we are celebrating all the boys birthdays. With one leaving for Macedonia soon I wanted everyone to be here, so we lumped them all together and we will celebrate BIG tomorrow.
It should be lots of fun!

Last night my husband and I were invited to join my son at the ASU Chi Alpha End-of-Year Banquet. It exceeded our expectations. What a great group of kids. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We got to meet all the kids that he hangs out with and spends all of his free time with. They were genuine, on fire kids. Sharing their lives with each other and those around them. Sharing the love of Christ. It was amazing to watch them interact. We couldn't ask for a better place for our son to spend his college years than with this group of people. Praising God for placing our son in this environment. :)

Lots of scrapbook challenges out there....be sure to check them out around the web and enjoy your day scrapping! I do plan to use my new cricut! Yes, I said cricut...that is what arrived in the mail yesterday. Yahoo! Looking forward to some fun later today. Enjoy your day!
