Trust

In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3 NLT

Many of you in the blogging world have chosen a word for the year. To signify and sum up what you hope for in the new year. I have been tossing around the idea of a word and putting it off. Mainly because it is too hard. I kept thinking I would change my word....pick something more fun and light. But I kept coming back to the same word. Or was I taken back to the same word? The word is TRUST. Something that is so hard to do sometimes. As I said, I avoided this word because sure, I trust the Lord. Of course I do, don't we all? But do I truly "trust" Him? Do I truly give it ALL to Him? The answer would have to be no, I don't. I play catch with Him a lot, tossing the ball to Him and then taking it back for awhile. Never really trusting Him to do what I want Him to do. But it is not all about ME. So...today I am choosing the word TRUST for my word this year. Giving up my control. Laying it all at His feet. And leaving it there. Praying hard for courage, wisdom and grace! Lifting up all my fears to Him and TRUSTING....

A Fun Day

The Valentine Mini Book Class was yesterday at Paper Vineyard. I had 9 ladies in class and boy did we have fun! The book took longer than anticipated, but everyone agreed to stay and get it finished. They all turned out so well. I think we all had a good time. The only thing missing was maybe lunch delivered to us...haha, but other than that it was a great class. Thanks to all the gals that joined me. I really do love my job!!

PS...for those of you that were there at the end of class when I had to rush out...my dad is doing just fine. He should be out of the hospital in a few days. Thanks for all your well wishes and prayers. I do appreciate it. :)

Valentine Mini Book at Paper Vineyard

I will be teaching again at Paper Vineyard this Saturday. It is a mini book for Valentine's day.I used the Cosmo Cricket line of papers. It is a mixed-up book with lots of room for things to be added. I even left the front page open for everyone to add their own title. That way it can be used for a husband, boyfriend, family, friend, etc. I think it will be a lot of fun to put together. The class is sold out....yahoo!! I will try to post photos Saturday after class.
Have a great day!

Creative Fun

An amazing day in the classroom! I signed up for a class at Mystic Paper in Mesa with Michael Putman. It was a beeswax collage class. It was so fun. I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed trying all the new techniques. Michael is a great teacher and I highly recommend taking a class from him. I had signed up alone but found out that Kim , Sherry and Colleen were all going to be there too. The photos show class in progress and my finished project. I love it! Hope your day was creative too!

Thailand Goodies

My Aunt and Uncle were missionaries in Thailand for years. All of their boys grew up there. For Christmas this year they took their entire family back to visit. What an amazing trip. I think there were about 18 in the group that went. Awhile back I posted about a mini book that I was making for a friend in Thailand that had recently visited. Well my Aunt took the book with her in Dec and it was a hit! Yahoo. I am so glad that Jane is happy with it. As a thank you, Jane sent back goodies for me. Oh my goodness! I was so excited to receive these wonderful things. She is such a kind & generous person. The photo shows all of the things she sent. I received a set of four silk cards that will find their way to frames....no way are they going to be used to write on. They are just too beautiful. I am sure they will find a home in my scrap room on the wall. (I will post that when I get them up) The next thing that was sent was a beautiful silk bag. It is just a little clutch and oh so pretty! I love it. My mom received soaps from a Thai spa that smell wonderful. She shared them with me and one of the bars is included in the photo. Wish you could smell it. :) A big thank you to Jane for all the wonderful goodies. That was so sweet of you! And so very appreciated. Thank you!

Journals & Bookmarks ...Quick and Easy

My son had some friends that were leaving for grad school and wanted to give them journals. I suggested that I could make some for him. It would be less expensive and more personal. So...first off I purchased two journals from the dollar bin at Michaels. I added a shepherds hook used for crocheting (although that wasn't my purpose), some scrapbook paper, small wooden initials also $1 at Michaels, and ribbon. First off I took the books apart, careful not to bend the metal rings. Then since the books were red (all I could find) and I would be using colors that didn't coordinate, I decided to paint the edges that would show. See photo above.
Once that was dry, using a gluestick I covered both books with scrapbook paper in their favorite colors...both inside and out. Then I carefully put the books back together squeezing the rings together in a similar fashion to the "Zutter-Bind it All". I tied ribbon to each book and decorated the front with Diamond Glaze outlining the swirls on the paper. I topped them both off with the small wooden initials that I had painted with Stickles in colors to match each book. So quick and easy. Then to add to the gift I made them each bookmarks. I had made scrabble tile necklaces at Christmas time and took them apart....fastened the tile with wire to the shepherds hook...adding colorful beads that I had in my stash. Crimped them off and ta-da....they were complete. I think they turned out darling and I really hope the girls like them. Best part....far less expensive than if they had been purchased at Barnes & Noble as first planned.

This is Where I Land

Air 1's Verse of the Day
1/10/2009

"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. "

Philippians 4:6, NLT |
Constantly we are reminded that we have no control. That ultimately it is up to Him. Releasing that control is difficult. Even when we think we have done it...we sometimes take it back. How comforting it is to KNOW that we don't have to take on that job. He cares for us in ways we can't begin to imagine. This frees us up to live a life of abundance. A life that touches others and reaches out to them. So...cast your cares upon Him and He will take care of you. Don't worry about tomorrow, just love today. Trust in Him!

New Page

After a trip to JoAnn's to spend my gift card on goodies (thanks Papa) I did my January layout for Devine Memories. What a great day to kick back and scrapbook. The items they gave me to work with this month were so much fun. They were: My Mind's Eye "Adore" paper and tags, Heidi Swapp clock stamps, Bazzill paper flowers and I added Tim Holtz "timeworks" Mask, Making Memories "funky chocolate" alpha, rhinestones, photo mat & ribbon.

Learning Curve

Ok...so I had to wait a bit to write this post as yesterday I was just too flustered. Class at Paper Vineyard was going so well until it came time to bind the book together. For some reason I turned the pages and mis-aligned them. But as I told the ladies...I work hard to come up with the classes and had put the sample together with no problems...I would fix it. We all make mistakes and I promised to make it right. Which I did....we had to redo a few things but everyone walked out of class with a beautiful book. I still love the project. I plan to make one for myself too!
After a disappointing day teaching I spent the afternoon doubting myself and my ability to teach. More than anything I didn't want to let anyone down. This is scrapbooking, a hobby, and it is suppose to be fun. So I stepped back and took a deep breath and figured...ok, it was a learning experience. After crusing through a few blogs I found this and just loved it. It fit. Credit goes to Stephanie at Homegrown Hospitality. (you can refer to her blog in the column to the right) She does great work and you can tell she really truly loves her Lord.

Define your PURPOSE
and follow your DREAMS
one step at a time
Expect to stumble and
show GRACE should you fall
But get up...
continue to climb
and FOCUS on God's
PROMISE for us all.

Get Organized

Tomorrow I will be teaching a fun class at Paper Vineyard...."Remember This" card organizer. One step in getting organized for the New Year. It will hold birthday cards, anniversary cards, etc for each month. You know when you find the perfect card for someone and then when their birthday rolls around you can't for the life of you remember where you saw that card....or you bought it and forgot where you put it...well this solves it. You store them in this little binder that fits nicely onto your shelf. Doesn't take up a lot of space--that's what I like. And I love the colors! Should be a fun class.

OK...I have tried a number of times to link the class but again blogger isn't let me post a link. ??? Not sure why. It was always simple before. Anyway....if you go to www.papervineyard.com and look under class schedule you will see the "remember this" class with a few photos.
